Oil heaters immerse the heating element in an oil bath, and are the safest heaters made. No materials can come into contact with the heating element, which greatly reduces the chance of flames.





A garage environment, however, is more hazardous. Piles of oily rags or strips of newspaper, etc. can become self-igniting if heated over long periods of time. Keep stuff away from the heater. not unless you plan on throwing it around the garage. no matter what kind of heater you use you run a risk in a garage simply because it produces heat and the average mechanic etc uses flammable fluids...just use common sense and you will be fine
