my friend has a 1997 mitsubishi eclipse rs 2.0 L 16 valves non turbo manual trans. 97,000 miles.he was adding antifreeze when he nottes oil mix with antifreeze. it overheats, runs great, no antifreeze on oil, starts good,he wants to change the head gasket we know is goin to be a big job. is there someone out there that can give 2nd or 3rd opinion on oil in antifreeze thanks.Antifreeze in radiator is milky like oil %26amp; anti is mixing?
Hi--Your over cylinder head gasket definitely needs replacement, your radiator a cleaning(replace the radiator cap as oil has already eaten the rubber joint....yes quite a big job as you mentioned as overheated engine can also affect other parts. Hope that it has not damaged other internal organ/s(Just do not want to discourage you..Most of the time an overheated engines cause damage to internal organ..which will require either a check on engine casing, re-boring or replacement on ';cylinders(sleeves)--';, piston..piston rings--flat bearing..gaskets..etc--meaning general maintenance on your engine.

Your overhead cylinder also need a control for it's plain surface, and whether there is crack.

Also 97000 miles means general engine maintenance especially if you like to drive in a sport manner(%26gt;4500tr/min)..:)Antifreeze in radiator is milky like oil %26amp; anti is mixing?
head gasket
Now that's a problem.
Sounds like a blown head gasket
You've got a cracked headgasket. Worse still, you may have a cracked block
You blew your engine! Good luck!!
you got a bad head gasket get it fixed now and don't drive it any till you do
Generally that does mean either a blown head gasket or cracked head.
sounds like a head gasket to me
