My Vt ss is using oil but not leaking it, although there seems to be a bit in the radiator..Help?

It is a little doughy sometimes to start, has a brand new battery in it. The heads are pulled off at the moment and the gaskets seem fine, so am at aloss..My Vt ss is using oil but not leaking it, although there seems to be a bit in the radiator..Help?
Head gasket leaks are often NOT that obvious. It could be leaking under or above the surface of the gasket or the head could be cracked. When doing a head gasket job, always take the head to a machine shop where they can test for cracks/leaks, check for warpage and machine the the mating surface. My Vt ss is using oil but not leaking it, although there seems to be a bit in the radiator..Help?
Have the heads crack tested and the intake manifold checked for corrosion or porosity. Also check the water pump housing in the timing cover for corrosion. Any of these components can allow coolant and oil to mix

Have you been using the proper coolant suitable for direct fire engines? Normal coolant is useless.
