I have a 1988 toyota 4 cylinder,22r engine, water in the oil pan & oil in the radiator.?

I need to know if this model has an oil cooler.I have a 1988 toyota 4 cylinder,22r engine, water in the oil pan %26amp; oil in the radiator.?
Common problem with 22Rs and 22REs is that the timing chain guides are plastic, and after 100k or so, they tend to break off. Then the chain slaps into the timing cover, eventually wearing through to the water jacket for the water pump, allowing coolant to get into the oil. Did you notice any strange noises appear in your engine over the last little while? http://www.lcengineering.com/technotes/i鈥?/a> If this is your problem, you will need a new timing cover, guides, the chain is probably stretched, so you'll want to replace that and the sprockets, and a chain tensioner. The factory chain is a single row chain, and isn't particularly durable, so I would advise going to LC engineering for their double row chain and steel guides, this kit has everything you need, timing cover, chain, guides, new water pump and oil pump, gaskets, everything.

This is one of the few cases where factory parts aren't the best choice, the new toyota guides are still plastic, and still crap. This is a lot cheaper than stock, if you got all the same parts from toyota, you'd probably be in 1000 dollar range. Labor for a 2wd carbureted truck is 9.2 hours, turbo or fuel injection is 10.2, 4x4 is 13.0 hours. Shop rates vary, 75 to 100 bucks an hour around here. No oil cooler...blown head gasket or cracked block.....
next time take your car to a qualified mechanic to change the oil and flush the radiator
Sounds like you have a cracked engine block as well as a blown head gasket. Maybe even a cracked head. Good luck.
do a compression test to verify if the head gasket is blown...
What you need to know is that you have crack in the engine . Next best thing to do for you is to scrap that car and get your self another junk to keep you occupied .
